From the Dean
Greetings dear friends,
What a year this has been. We have had many challenges and faced much sorrow during this year of pandemic, but I dare say there have been many opportunities for growth, as well. We have sought to engage with our communities in ways to care, to reflect and to grow.
Even during times like these, we are still so proud of the professional education we offer and of our approach. We want more students to be Baylor MSWs, and we know it is increasingly difficult for diverse students to be in Waco. Being in Houston and now going online are real assets to our goals of offering transformative professional education.
In addition, with the university’s new research goals, spelled out in Illuminate, our faculty are engaging university and community partners in new ways to study the services we offer and understand the needs of the people we serve.
Through our top two goals of teaching and research, you can feel the heartbeat of the Garland School. Highlighted in these pages are the stories of students, faculty and staff living out these things.
These stories are a snapshot of who we are. They celebrate the accomplishments of our staff, the diligence of our faculty, the contributions of our students, and the generosity of our donors.
Thank you for your support, and thank you for taking the time to stay connected to the Garland School.
